Can the Nasdaq sustain a rebound when oil remains above $100, Treasury yields hover near 5.24%, and SpaceX threatens the economics of America's largest wireless carriers?
Wall Street has a fascinating talent for celebrating a fire alarm because someone turned down the thermostat.
Friday's premarket offered a classic example.
Oil prices retreated after comments signaling a pause in additional U.S. strikes on Iran. Nasdaq futures rebounded as AI-related stocks recovered. Yet the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield remained around 5.24%, and wireless carriers faced a significant competitive shock following SpaceX's spectrum announcement.
TFT interpretation: The dominant macro catalyst is the easing of immediate energy-supply fears. The competing narrative is persistent inflation risk, expensive capital, and industry-specific disruption.
The key test after 9:30 a.m. ET is whether the rebound broadens beyond a handful of AI leaders. Rising semiconductor prices, stronger market breadth and expanding volume would support the bullish case. A renewed climb in yields or oil alongside deteriorating breadth would undermine it.
Operator gut-check: Are you buying because the screen is green—or because the market has confirmed that the conditions supporting your trade have actually changed?

The opening test is whether lower oil and stable yields translate into sustained semiconductor leadership, stronger breadth and expanding volume.
